Becky Parr, CPRW, NCOPE
In 2004, I answered a job ad for a business writer that turned out to be a resume writer position. Now, 20+ years, two jobs in outplacement/relocation, and a certification later, I’m writing resumes, LinkedIn profiles, federal resumes, and more. It’s very rare that I run across a profession for which I haven’t written a resume.
I earned an English degree at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where I took pretty much every writing class they offered. Before I discovered resume writing, I did some career floundering of my own; I managed production for a medical publisher, was a CSR for a typesetting company, led a choir, and owned a bed and breakfast! Weirdly, that diverse experience gave me a boost when I started writing resumes. I knew a little bit about a number of professions. After 20 years, I know a fair amount about even more professions!
I lived in Texas for most of my life, but I recently moved to Colorado and am enjoying the mountain views outside of Denver. My husband is a registered nurse, and we have two cats and a dog (all rescues). When I’m not at work, you can find me cooking, doing needlework, reading, and exploring Colorado.
